　When we are in a container with a small creature, we sometimes fantasize that the world in which we live may be being watched from above by someone. Such a feeling that “the real world in which we humans live is actually just a simulation by someone with an advanced civilization” is called the “simulation hypothesis. This possibility has been discussed from the standpoints of physics, computer science, philosophy, and other fields, but I hoped to feel a hint of the outside as a human subject.
　In this work, people passing by are projected on the screen, but in fact, when viewed from a bird’s eye view, it is clear that these images are created from the visual information of the viewer’s own face. By looking down, the viewer observes other elements that the people in the scenery cannot notice, and feels the existence of something outside of himself or herself, just as when nurturing a living creature.

　小さい生き物などを容器の中でいるとき，「自分たちの住んでいるこの世界も誰かに上から見られているのかもしれない」などと妄想することがあります．そういう「私たち人間が生きる現実世界は，実は高度な文明をもつ何者かによるシミュレーションに過ぎない」と感じることを「シミュレーション仮説」といいます．その可能性はこれまで物理学，コンピュータサイエンス，哲学などの立場から議論されてきましたが，人間という主体として外側の気配を感じることができればと考えました．
　本作品では人々が行き交う景色が映されますが、実は俯瞰して見るとこれらは鑑賞者自身の顔の視覚的情報から作られていることがわかります．俯瞰することで，鑑賞者は景色の中の人々には気づくことができない別の要素を観察し，生き物を育てるときのように自身の外側の存在を感じることになります．
